Winner of Houston Symphony Ima Hogg National Young Artist Competition, Wen-Mi Chen received her Doctor of Music from the University of Cincinnati.
She performed solo recitals in Maryland, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, Ohio, and also presented her research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Dayton, Aletheia University and National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan.
She enjoys teaching piano, clarinet, music theory and guides students to explore different musical styles. Her instruction is self-paced and goal oriented. She also combines visual media to enhance students’ understanding of performing art. Dr. Chen believes every student can learn and learning can be fun.
She constantly encourages students to take ownership of their interest and be proud of their achievement. In the past, Dr. Chen’s students earned the highest level of RCM music certificate and won the districts/state band auditions. Furthermore, Dr. Chen believes the relationship between teacher, student, and parents is critical. Regular communication is one of the keys to a successful musical journey.
